The Background of

AFM Sunnyside

The AFM (Apostolic Faith Mission) Sunnyside is an assembly of the greater AFM South Africa, which was established in 1908. The local assembly started its ministry in the Upper Hall in Bosman Street and then later moved to Pretorius Street. The present building has been in use since 27 April 1963 and has been instrumental in the establishment of various assemblies in the surrounding areas.

Dr TJ Swift May 2001 to date

The Lord has blessed this assembly. With the appointment of Dr T.J. Swift in 2001, the way forward came under the spotlight and on Sunday 6 April 2003 the church started with an English Service at 10:00 directly after the Afrikaans Service which started at 08:30. It was a difficult time for the assembly to adapt. The start was very humble and the English service was attended by 176 people. We can testify of great blessing!!

The membership number of the assembly is constantly growing and there can be testified of the great blessing, grace and favour received from the hand of God. In 2008 a second English service was started at 11:30 to accommodate more members. The strategic situation of this assembly, places it in one of the most densely populated areas in South Africa, approximately 100,000 people in the area. The assembly was also joined by a Portuguese group; a French group, an Amharic group, and a Tigrigna group, bringing the number of services in 6 different languages. Now we offer 8 services per Sunday, with a full programme during the week.

Helping people know Jesus, grow in faith & go into the world equipped to serve.
