INFORMATION ABOUT USHERING:
Introduction: The concept of ushering is not new. During Old Testament there were positions called “doorkeepers or gatekeepers” and their roles was similar to ushering.
In the New Testament , the disciples of Jesus could be considered as ushers in a sense that they:
-kept order among those came to listen to Jesus.
-served food where necessary to the audience, such as feeding five thousand people.
TO BE AN USHER:
-be able to work as a team.
-be ready to take orders from your leaders.
-must have a background of customer care which assists children, the sick and everyone.
-strong communication skill,friendly and personality.
-have a knowledge of safety rules.
-confidence on settling disputes, dealing with disruptions from audience.
DUTIES OF AN USHER:
-keep order at the entrance and exit of the church: Psalm 84:10, 1Chron. 9:17-27.
-handle disturbances during the services and observe the church protocol.
-distribute holy communion.
-collect tithes and offerings: 2Kings 22:4.
